Fruitful

We believe the Christian life involves growth personal discipleship as well as outreach. Jesus use of organic parables and metaphors is especially relevant today as a corrective to mechanised or commodified models in the wider church. Planting, grafting, pruning, blossoming, producing fruit and uprooting all have a place in the seasons of the soul just as we see them physically played out on a fruit farm. 

Encounter

We believe that God meets with his people in real and tangible ways that transform our lives. The Holy Spirit is poured out in the the hearts of followers of Jesus and especially when we gather. We are not interested in empty religion or powerless management techniques. The Minster is a place where people encounter the Living God – meeting face to face with Him, in a place with people is what makes a church not another form of club or social connection.  

Story

God’s story – the Bible, ia the grand narrative that makes sense of reality. Scripture is the final authority for followers of Jesus and we love it. We believe in deep theoloogical engagement and reflection upon God’s word. We don’t scrimp on this. We believe in the preached word as a powerful means of God encountering and transforming his people. We also know that there is a famine of the word of the Lord in our generation and when people hear the gospel preached they are drawn to Christ. We are committed to disciple making and we are part of the wider global disciple making movement which centres Christian community and growth around the Bible in homes and small groups. We believe that the narrative framework of the Bible is reflected in our own storytelling, so we value listening to the stories of others, and sharing our own testimonies of the goodness of God.

Hospitality

At the Minster we are committed to radical generosity and hospitality. We believe that these are central to the Kingdom of God. We welcome people to our homes, our tables, and our shared life. We believe it is good to share and give away our resources - financial, intellectual, physical and spiritual. We want to welcome anyone who is seeking meaning and if you join us you will find good coffee and good food await.
